Most (but not all) Radford, whether early or later, is identified by a shape number on the base.  On earlier pieces the shape number is handwritten, on later moulded or cast pieces it is impressed into the base.

Note this should not be confused with the pattern, which is identified by a letter code (see the patterns page).

The range of known shapes extends up to about 1300, with about the first 300+ being handthrown "early" shapes.  Although it is reasonable to assume that pattern numbers were allocated in sequence, it does not necessarily follow that a piece marked as shape 50, for example, was made before a piece marked shape 100 - some shapes would no doubt have been produced for a number of years.

The table below lists all the shape numbers in the range 1 to 1300, although by no means all the numbers have been seen.  Initially only shapes up to 50 are shown - more will be added.
